Lucy Anders stars as “Katherine” in her Casa Mañana debut, Disney’s Newsies. Our production will mark her first time in the show, and we are thrilled to welcome her to Texas!
“I did my first show at age 5 with the Findlay Light Opera Company. I was in Grand Night for Singing with my mom and dad. I danced on a platform while my dad sang “My Little Girl,” and the rest is history.”
Lucy would like to thank her countless influential mentors. “Miss Barb (my first tap teacher) was in the core de ballet at Radio City, the original Broadway companies of Guys and Dolls and Can Can. She started giving me tap lessons at age five and laid the dance, work ethic and professionalism foundation I have today.” Lucy’s advice to her younger self is, “Watch, listen and learn from everyone.” She certainly learned from Miss Barb!
When she gets to Texas, she’s excited to see actors playing newsies KILL the show, “I guarantee I will cry during “Seize the Day.”
After finally being able to perform again, we’re asking our cast to share one good thing happening in their lives. Lucy says, “I’m teching Hello, Dolly! at Pioneer Theatre company right now. This whole company is a good thing!”
Finally – we’d like to give a shout-out to Lucy’s dog, Axel! While technically her parents’ dog, she loves him endlessly! “I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!”
