Spotlight on disney - Spring edition

Grades 3-4: Tuesdays, 4:30-5:25 pm
Grades 5-6: Tuesdays, 5:30-6:25 pm
Grades 7+: Wednesdays, 6:30-7:25 pm

Added by popular demand, the SPOTLIGHT class guides young performers through learning and rehearsing a selection of dynamic musical theatre numbers.  The SPOTLIGHT classes will come together with our Apprentice students for a ticketed Spring Revue performance.

Spotlight on Disney - All abilities

Youth (>18), Adults (18+)

Our All-Abilities program – celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year in 2022-23 – is designed specifically for youth and adults with special care needs, ability issues, and/or cognitive/sensory issues.  We are happy to partner with Junior League of Fort Worth this year, providing volunteer and financial support for this one-of-a-kind program!

• Acting Classes •

Acting 1

Grades 3-5
Semester-long
Mondays, 4:30-5:25 pm
Tuesdays, 5:30-6:25 pm
$300

This class introduces the fundamental skills in the craft of acting. Students will build awareness of themselves, their voices, and their non-verbal communication as they learn the actor’s tools. Students will work on character development in various styles of theatre as they explore risk-taking and the power of bold choices! This is a terrific class for a young person who is curious about what it means to be an actor.

Acting 2

Grades 6+
Semester-long
Tuesdays, 6:30-7:25 pm
$300

For students with some experience and familiarity with the basics of acting, this class delves deeper into fundamentals, improvisation, physicality, and more.  Students will build awareness of themselves, their voices, and their non-verbal communication as they learn the actor’s tools. Students will work on character development in various styles of theatre as they explore risk-taking and the power of bold choices!

ADVANCED DANCE

By Instructor Approval Only
Semester-long, Saturdays at 10-11:30 am
$350

Former Rockette, Broadway dancer, and TCU faculty member Merrill West teaches complex work across the floor in multiple specific styles (Bob Fosse, Michael Bennett, etc.), plus warm-up, technique, and body awareness. This professional-level class is truly advanced and is open to college students and adults wanting to build and maintain their skills.

EXPLORER'S CLUB

Grades: Pre-K – Kindergarten
Semester-long ,Tuesdays 4:30-5:25 pm
$300

EXPLORER’S CLUB gives young artists the opportunity for imaginative play and guided creative narratives!  Both parents and young ones can join the Explorer’s Club as we open the Theatre in a Trunk each week to explore the art of storytelling.

Creative adventures

Grades: 1-2
Semester-long, Mondays or Wednesdays at 4:30-5:25 pm
$300

CREATIVE ADVENTURES lets young performers blast off on an adventure!  Your child will explore the art of performance through a story of their own making on the historic Casa Mañana mainstage.

Apprentice

By Audition Only
Grades: 6-12
 Mondays from 5:30-8:30 pm
$1,200 per year

This auditioned class is for the most dedicated and focused young artists. A limited number of students will be accepted into this rigorous class taught by Penny Ayn Maas (TCU Theatre Faculty), James McQuillen (Director of Theatre for Youth) and Merrill West (TCU Theatre Faculty, Former Radio City Rockette). Students will receive special consideration in casting for Casa Mañana productions AND early access to masterclasses.

Auditions are completed and registration is currently closed.
