J. Dontray Davis returns for his second show at Casa Mañana to star as “Snyder” in Disney’s Newsies. He is excited to bring “Synder” to life and work with such a talented cast. We are pleased to have him back after his debut in Shrek the Musical.
After moving to Dallas from Waco in 2012, J. dove into opportunities as an actor and designer. “September this year will be my eleventh year in DFW, and I couldn’t be happier.” He says, “If I could tell my younger self advice, I would tell him, “DON’T GIVE UP!” He continues, “I know the sun doesn’t shine the brightest where you are now but believe me – things get better.”
When speaking about the major influences in his life, J. would like to honor Mandy Conner, his high school theatre teacher. “She was the first person who saw that I had raw talent and convinced me to audition for musicals. She sparked a fire inside me that still burns big and bright.”
J. is blessed to have a supportive, loving family. “It’s the best feeling when you know you have people to lean on. Mom, I love you more than you know!”
Disney’s Newsies closes tomorrow, June 12. Get tickets here: https://casamanana.org/events/disneysnewsies/.
