Casa veteran BJ Cleveland returns to the stage twice over for Madagascar: A Musical Adventure! Not only is BJ directing the show, he also stars as the larger-than-life “King Julien.” BJ can truly say he is the King of Madagascar in more ways than one!
How does BJ get into character to portray a ring tailed lemur on stage? “King Julien is so much fun and has such a funny accent… I walk around saying several lines out loud over and over to get the rhythms right.”
BJ says he is similar to his character because of his approach to tough situations. “What I can relate to is King Julien says very humorous things in the face of adversity and I’m quick to crack a joke in stressful times.”
What is BJ’s favorite part about working on Madagascar at Casa? “It’s a hilarious show celebrating friendship and I have lots of friends in the cast and production team. It’s fun coming to work.”
