About Kati Grimmer

Kati has known that she would be an actor and director since 6th grade when she was asked by her English teacher to write an essay entitled, “What Will You Do When You Grow Up?” She began moving toward that goal under the direction of Mrs. Myna Faye Bruner at Mineral Wells High School and Ms. Angela Redman at the Mineral Wells Community Theatre.

She continued her training at Texas Tech University where she was inspired and influenced by Dr. George Sorensen. After graduating with honors from Texas Tech University in 1991 with a BA in Theatre and a BA in English, Kati began teaching and has been involved in the instruction and direction of young Thespians ever since. 

Kati has taught every grade level from 5th to 12th. After 36 years of teaching, Kati retired in May 2025 after taking her students at Fossil Ridge High School to a state appearance at the UIL One Act Play contest in Austin.

Professional Associations and Honors

  • Member of Texas Educational Theatre Association for more than 20 years
  • Hospitality Co-Chair, Texas Educational Theatre Association, Programming Committee Co-Chair.
  • Member of Texas Theatre Adjudicators and Officials:  (Member since its inception) She serves as both a contest manager and adjudicator for University Interscholastic League One Act Play events (Zone, District, Bi-district, Area, Region)
  • K-12 Educator of the Year, Texas Educational Theatre Association, 2019. 
  • Teacher of the Year,  Keller Middle School, 2020
  • Outstanding Educator, Live Theatre League 2023
  • Director/Producer of more than 100 educational theatre productions including musicals UIL competition plays, student directed plays, student reviews and more.
