MUSICAL THEATRE

LIVE ON STAGE

CPAC's premier musical theatre triple-threat class, Live on Stage focuses on vocal training, choreography and staging of musical numbers, culminating in an end-of-semester performance. Each semester students are taught musical numbers from Broadway shows or staged to classic pop songs. A typical semester would consist of staging to the music of Stephen Schwartz, writer of Wicked, Pippin, Godspell and Children of Eden, or to music from the 1950's. At the end of each semester, students participate in a fully-staged production on the Casa Mañana stage. As much rehearsal as class, Live on Stage is the ultimate musical theatre performance course.

DRAMAPLAY

Dramaplay is CPAC's participation-centered drama program for our youngest students. Dramaplay focuses on story enactments and theatre games and other forms of structured dramatic activities that develop a child's natural inclination for play. Through a variety of activities that range from guided imagination journeys, imitation games, improvisation, masks, puppets, enacting of stories through use of music, poetry, news stories, creative movement, pantomime and eventually simple scripts, children learn about emotions, community, the nature of storytelling and character. This course is a great outlet for a child's imagination and a wonderful chance to gain confidence and to learn to work with others in an environment that stresses experience over performance.
